What is Metabolomics?

Metabolomics can be defined as the quantitative measurement of all low molecular weight metabolites in an organism's cells at a specified time under specific environmental conditions.

Combining information from metabolomics, proteomics and genomics will help us to obtain an integrated understanding of cell biology.

Metabolic analysis can be divided into four general areas:

  • Target compound analysis
    • The quantification of specific metabolites
  • Metabolic profiling
    • Quantitative or qualitative determination of a group of related compounds or of specific metabolic pathways
  • Metabolomics
    • Qualitative and quantitative analysis of all metabolites
  • Metabolic Fingerprinting
    • Sample classification by rapid, global analysis

Although our main interest is focused on Metabolomics we are also happy to discuss or collaborate in all the related areas described above.
